The aljama was the organisational structure of Jewish communities in the Crown of Aragon. Its relationship with Christian authority was one of close dependence. Legally, Jews were considered servants of the king, who regularly required payments from the aljamas and, in return, granted them protection through privileges. This gallery includes a selection of archaeological finds that were used in the daily lives of the Jewish men and women of Girona.
