Library: information and opening hours

Eliezer Eljanan Shalit Library

One of the main resources supporting the Nahmanides Institute for Jewish Studies and the Museum of Jewish History is its specialist Judaica library, named after the Israeli philanthropist Eliezer Eljanan Shalit. The library began to take shape in 1991, based on the small Judaica collection of the Municipal Archives of Girona, which was subsequently enriched with volumes from the Bonastruc ça Porta Centre.

Over the years, through the efforts and collaboration of institutions, organisations and private individuals, a substantial bibliographic collection has been built. It is probably the most important public Judaica collection in Catalonia.

Access to and use of the library is open to anyone wishing to learn about, explore, research or simply approach Jewish culture from different perspectives.
