On 10 July 1492, the leaders of the Jewish community, following King Ferdinand's decree expelling all Jewish women and men from Catalonia, sold the synagogue spaces owned by the community to the canons of the cathedral. The sale was formalised for 300 pounds.
On the Museum's first floor you will find the facsimile copy of the deed of sale of Girona's synagogues. The original document is written in Latin, in ink on parchment, and is kept in the Municipal Archive of Girona. On its website you can consult related documents concerning the sale of the buildings and courtyards of Girona's former synagogue. They consist of 11 documents sewn together, forming a 3.6‑metre‑long roll.
