Diary 4
Documentary
Directed by: David Perlov
Israel, 1983
55 min

Synopsis:
The Lebanon War and the Sabra and Chatila massacre permeate the fourth chapter of Diary, a film in which Perlov traces a series of correspondences between various artistic regimes in an attempt to find a fair image that represents the horror. He draws on the series of prints The Disasters of War (1810-1815) by Goya—“the greatest television reporter of all time”—to critique the media's portrayal of the Lebanon War and turns to music with Field of the Dead from the cantata Alexander Nevsky (1938) to capture and reveal the brutal reality of the Sabra and Chatila massacre. Sharon refuses to resign, and political contingencies intertwine with the intimacy of the home on another birthday for his twin daughters.

Shivtown
Documentary
Director: Hillel Ben Zeev Perlov
France - Israel, 2025
25 min

Synopsis:
The film follows the intimate journey of a young photographer who, in the midst of three years of compulsory military service, finds himself forced to confront the political shadows of his country. In a remote artillery base in the Negev desert, with a film camera as his only weapon, he turns his daily life into a visual diary that searches, amidst the imposed brutality, for a ray of hope.
