International Days
World Post Day is celebrated on October 9 to commemorate the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874. The Universal Postal Union has been a specialized agency of the United Nations since 1948 and was created with the aim of unifying postal services across different territories around the world. It also established the principle of freedom of transit for mail.
