Girona, capitalTechnological and educational advances

As already mentioned, this Museum is located in a former convent of Capuchin friars that dates to the 18th century, which in 1845 became the first Institute of Secondary Education in Girona, and one of the first in Catalonia. The instruments and tools used by the students (girls also attended the Institute) in the science classes have been preserved in the Museum and are a reminder of that time when Girona was a capital in many respects: educational, cultural, political, economic, administrative, industrial, and communications; the latter precisely thanks to the train that has connected the city with Barcelona and the world since 1862.
