Photographic & Audiovisual Archives Group (PAAG)

The expert group of the International Council on Archives (ICA) dedicated to photographic and audiovisual archives aims to respond to the needs of the archival community in the management and preservation of this type of records.

Expert group of the International Council on Archives (ICA) focused on photographic and audiovisual archives.

Objectives

The objective of the expert group is to address the specific challenges arising from the management and preservation of photographic and audiovisual records, by creating educational resources that support professionals working with these materials in their daily tasks. These objectives are structured as follows:

• Establish simple guidelines for intervention in photographic and audiovisual collections.
• Provide archival professionals with tools for description, preventive conservation, digitization, and more.
• Encourage training activities and the production of educational resources.
• Create a virtual space for exchange and dissemination.
• Bring into the archival field the questions raised by the general public about photographic and audiovisual heritage.

Team

The PAAG steering committee is composed of 7 members: David Iglésias Franch (President), André Porto, Stephen J. Fletcher, Eléonore Alquier, Juan Alonso, Jill Delaney, and Rachel Mihalko.

Participation

The Centre for Image Research and Diffusion (CRDI) of the Girona City Council leads and coordinates the different projects carried out by this expert group.
