InterPARES Trust Artificial Intelligence (I Trust AI)

Definition

I Trust AI is a multidisciplinary, multinational project led by the University of British Columbia, aimed at designing, developing and leveraging artificial intelligence to support the availability and access to public records through the creation of a sustainable working network involving academia, archival institutions, professionals and industry in a feedback process that strengthens knowledge across all parties.

Objectives

  1. Identify specific AI technologies that can address critical challenges in records and archives
  2. Determine the benefits and risks of using AI technologies in records and archives
  3. Ensure that archival concepts and principles are embedded in the development of responsible AI
  4. Validate the results of objective 3 through case studies and demonstrations

Team

The project involves individuals and institutions from 30 countries and 5 continents: 83 universities, 22 companies and international organizations, 16 national and regional archives, 118 academics, 102 professionals and 41 student-researchers.

Participation

The Girona City Council participates through its technical staff as a specialist collaborator in various working groups and collective case studies. The SGDAP’s estimated total contribution as a partner is €70,000 in staff time, including the organization and support of activities throughout the 5 years of the project.
