Several activities such as lectures, guided visits and workshops for children have been planned around the exhibition and presentation of the unpublished work.
Two lectures will be held on the occasion of the public presentation of the unpublished work Scene of the French War. The first one, “To narrate or to imagine”, will be held on November 13 at 6.30 p.m., by Francesc Milapeix Vilamala, professor of History of Art at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The second one, “From epic and memory to experimental archaeology. Uniformology and vexillology of the Sieges of Girona, from the ‘Scene of the French War’, by Joan Carles Anglès”, will be held on November 20 at 6.30 p.m. by Marc Sureda Junay, director of the Institute Amatller of Hispanic Art Foundation and president of the 1809-Friends of Napoleonic Girona Association.
Two other lectures will contextualize the exhibition. The first one, “A historical approach to the four series of engravings of Goya”, will be on January 14, 2026 by Albert Martí Palau, art historian, collector, antiquarian and owner of Palau Antiguitats. The second one, “Archetypes and realities: the women in the engravings of Goya”, is scheduled on March 11, 2026 by Lluïsa Faxedas Brujats, professor of the department of History of Art of the University of Girona.
There will be commented visits on November 22 and December 13, 2025 and on March 21, 2026 at 12 p.m., by Aina Mercades Sbert, curator and art critic.
Guided visits are also planned on Saturdays at 12 p.m. on demand and there will be a workshop for children with the title “Let’s make an engraving with the linography technique”.
All activities are free and will be held in the exhibition hall of the History Museum of Girona. The capacity is limited so it is recommended to book tickets in advance at the website.
