The exhibition has been on view for ten months at the Girona History Museum and is available virtually along with all the documentation of these funds and the program of activities.
Nearly 10,000 people have passed through the Girona History Museum to visit the exhibition “The commitment to new art. Itineraries of the avant-garde in Catalonia through the Rafael and María Teresa Santos Torroella fund”, which closed its doors last Monday, September 11, after ten months of exhibition.
The exhibition has presented a selection of the most outstanding and representative works from the art collection and archive of Rafael and María Teresa Santos Torroella. This has been the first exhibition of the Contemporary Art Exhibition Series that, between 2022 and 2024, has the objective of presenting three significant collections of the artistic heritage of the Girona City Council, which constitute the funds of the future Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Catalonia in Gerona.
You can visit the exhibition virtually, taking the same route as the in-person exhibition and consult works, documents and texts that were in the exhibition. And you can also recover all the activities that were organized around the exhibition, a cycle of conferences and debate tables with relevant figures of art criticism and art history in our country: Francisco Fontbona, Àlex Mitrani, Anna Capella, Eudald Camps, Fanny Estela, Alex Susanna, Artur Ramon, Josep Playa, Joan Boadas and Anna Pujols. Activities available to you, along with the guided tour led by curators Rosa Gutiérrez Herranz and Jaume Vidal Oliveras, have been recorded and we have interpretation in sign language.
In the digital sphere, various actions have been carried out to support the exhibition. A catalog has been published about the exhibition of the Art Fund and Archive-Library of Rafael and María Teresa Santos Torroella, which can be consulted online. The Art and Documentary Collections have also been digitized and a specific web resource for the exhibition has been created.
