Colonial Traces in Girona is a historical walking tour that invites visitors to discover a little-known side of the city: the connections between Girona and the colonial processes that transformed the world between the 18th and 20th centuries.

Through streets, squares, shops, factories, institutions and cultural memories, the tour invites us to explore how products such as coffee, sugar, cocoa and tobacco arrived in Girona; how capital originating overseas could be reinvested in local businesses and infrastructure; and how these histories remain present - or absent - in the urban space today.

The tour does not offer a closed historical narrative or an inventory of monuments. Instead, it draws on documents, historical newspapers, archives, photographs and academic research to propose a different way of reading the city.
An opportunity to see the city through different eyes, recover stories that are often absent from the usual narrative, and ask how the colonial past continues to be present in today's urban space.
