Temporary closure of the Museum's first floor for the new exhibition project "Girona: 2,100 Years of a City"

Wednesday, October 14, 2026

Admission to the Museum will be free while access to the museum route is partially restricted

Preparatory work has begun on the new exhibition project "Girona: 2,100 Years of a City", dedicated to the 2,000th anniversary of Girona. As part of this work, the permanent exhibition rooms Roman Girona and Medieval Girona are being dismantled.

The new exhibition, curated by Carme Sais and Sílvia Planas, with Pep Canaleta as designer, will be displayed in the exhibition hall and on the Museum's first floor. For this reason, and to ensure visitor safety and allow the work to proceed smoothly, the Museum's first floor will be closed to the public from 14 October 2026 until the opening of the new exhibition, scheduled for early May 2027.

During this period, visitors will still be able to explore the other accessible areas of the Museum. The toilets located in the cloister will also remain available.

Admission to the Museum will be free of charge during this period, as access to the usual museum route will be partially restricted.

We thank our visitors for their understanding and invite them to continue discovering the Museum while we prepare this new exhibition project.
