Attendance success at the European Heritage Days

Friday, October 17, 2025

It was a huge success with the attendance of 433 people.

A week ago the special program for the European Heritage Days #JEP2025 began: three days of open house, guided visits and dramatized tours. It was a huge success with the attendance of 433 people.

The three visits were about architectural heritage, the museum’s building and spaces of remembrance, with the participation of 123 users.

The first visit, “The high school, now and then”, a novelty that premiered for the occasion, was about when the museum housed the first High School of Girona, and the link with the current Jaume Vicens Vives High School. An emotive visit by Joaquim Nadal, shared with former and new students and teachers of this educational centre.

The two visits on Saturday, “The voice of the old building”, by Actiescola, made known other uses of the building, such as the gothic manor of the Cartellà-Sarriera family and the later Capuchin convent of Sant Antoni de Pàdua. From this period the museum still preserves the cemetery-desiccator, the confession booth, the cistern and the coal bin.

And on Sunday, once again, with the company La Minúscula, the air-raid shelter at Jardí de la Infància was the starting point of a tour throughout the memory of two little girls from Girona, Consol Colomer and Enriqueta Baulida, and their experiences during the Civil War and the aerial threat of the bombings in Girona.

We want to thank all the people who trusted us and come to visit.

We will repeat these activities. Some of them are still available on the museum’s activity schedule on the website, where you can register to them.
