The most significant part of the Fund Rafael and Maria Teresa Santos Torroella of the City Hall of Girona will be exhibited at the Patio Herreriano of Valladolid

The exhibition “Anudar el tiempo. El Fondo Rafael y Maria Teresa Santos a y sus ecos en la Asociación Colección Arte Contemporáneo” includes 135 art pieces and 200 documents related to the Fund Rafael and Maria Teresa Santos Torroella from Girona, starting tomorrow Saturday, November 9th 2024. and will be available until April 27th, 2025.

The most significant part of the Fund Rafael and Maria Teresa Santos Torroella of the City Hall of Girona will be exhibited at the Patio Herreriano of Valladolid, starting tomorrow Saturday, November 9th 2024. The exhibition “Anudar el tiempo. El Fondo Rafael y Maria Teresa Santos Torroella y sus ecos en la Asociación Colección Arte Contemporáneo was curated by the historian and art critic Rosa Gutiérrez Herranz and the professor and art historian Jaume Vidal Oliveras, and it opens a dialog between the collection from Girona and the collection from the Patio Herreriano Museum of Valladolid.

Valladolid was a relevant location in the family life of Santos Torroella. When his family settled in the city, Rafael was a young teenager eager of cultural stimulus and his sister, Àngeles, an artist, was in her artistic prime, as in the late 1920s she made most of her best works. In Valladolid, Rafael Santos Torroella regarded the professional growth of his sister and it was the beginning of his great interest in art. His is the trajectory of an extraordinary art historian and of a privileged cultural agent who witnessed the development of the Spanish art vanguards.
