Open doors weekend and premiere of the dramatized tour "La Queta, La Consol, and the Experiences of a Time of War."
The European Heritage Days are a good time to discover the History Museum of Girona, which, through its thematic rooms, multifaceted collections and singular spaces, tells the plural and diverse stories that have built both Girona and the lives of its peoples through the ages. The weekend of October 11th to 13th we encourage you to participate in this heritage party by coming to the Museum, which will open its doors for free.
Moreover, coinciding with the European Heritage Days, the Museum will premiere its new dramatic visit, “Queta, Consol and experiences during wartime”, an activity that will start at the air-raid shelter from Jardí de la Infància and end at the Museum. It is an emotive tour through the memories of two little girls from Girona, Consol Colomer and Enriqueta Baulida, which were together in the air-raid shelter from Jardí de la Infància during the bombings of the Civil War. The visit is based on Consol Colomer Jou’s school notebooks, who during the days of the Civil War was a child who attended the Karl Marx School in Girona. These notebooks, carefully preserved by Consol herself and donated to the Museum by her children when she died, are a testimony of the changes that the Francoist dictatorship supposed to the Republican educative system and of the feelings and experiences of a child during war times.
These humble, everyday items have also contributed to historical research, as they were a key element in the work of the journalist Gemma Busquets, who devotes herself to give voice to the life experiences of the victims of the Civil War.
This is a free activity, which requires registration in advance.
