The aim of the exhibition is to present the origins of LGBTIQA+ activism in the city of Girona and its surrounding counties, showcasing the objects and elements that bear witness to this long-standing struggle, as well as the spaces that have been key in making the community visible - spaces of protest, but also of community and belonging. An evolution that has gone hand in hand with that of the city, filling it with colors and diversity.

The exhibition is a vindication of the freedom to be, to express oneself and to love, and a reflection on how all those rights that may now seem basic to us are in fact very recent. It also highlights the need to continue fighting to preserve them and to put an end to LGBT-phobia in all areas of society.

Curated by: Lyhdyr Esquedo Teixidó and Pau Gálvez Lot. Organized by: Girona History Museum, Girona City Council. In collaboration with: Girona Provincial Council and the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia
