In this route around the Barri Vell we will learn about the origins of the LGBTIQA+ activism in the city of Girona throughout several spaces, such as Plaça Independència, Rambla de la Llibertat, la Fontana d'Or, the former Mesón Los Padules in Carrer Nou del Teatre and La Llibreria in Carrer Ciutadans, or the first locale of the Espai LGBTI in the current Modern, Audiovisual and Digital Centre of Girona.
The tour will start at the History Museum of Girona. We will take a walk around the Barri Vell while talking about the facts related to each location and reflecting on the evolution of the rights of the LGBTIQA+ people, from the approval of the Ley sobre peligrosidad y rehabilitación social (Law on danger and social rehabilitation) of 1970, heir to the Ley de vagos y maleantes (Law on bums and thugs) of 1933, to the present day.
We will highlight the key role of associations and groups such as the Front of Gay Liberation of Catalonia, the Group of Lesbians of Girona, the Trans Association of Girona and the Unitary Commission of June 28 of Girona.
