As part of the celebration of the International Day for Monuments and Sites, an event promoted by ICOMOS that aims to remind us of the value, richness, and fragility of our cultural heritage, the Museum of History of Girona offers a guided visit to this vestige of the Civil War preserved in the city, which is part of the Network of Memory Spaces. The activity aims to encourage collective commitment to the preservation, conservation, and transmission of our cultural heritage to future generations.
This is the only collective shelter that has been preserved and can be visited, out of the three that were built in 1938. It was the first and is of cellular type with a vaguely oval shape. It provided protection for six hundred people.
The guided tour includes the experience of a simulated air raid and audiovisual projections featuring testimonies from people who lived through the bombings in the city.
This year's event revolves around the theme "Living heritage and emergency response" and aims to recognize the work of all those who strive to conserve and protect cultural heritage.
Organized by: Girona Historu Museum, Girona City Council. With the collaboration of : the Catalan Agency for Cultural Heritage
