During the Civil War, the rear became a battlefront, and radio was the primary instrument of communication.

When the alarm sirens sounded from the tower of the Institute (now the MHG), the reference station Radio Girona, broadcasting on frequency EAJ-38, interrupted its programming to issue the bombing warning: "Citizens of Girona, there is a danger of bombing. Everyone go to the shelters calmly and serenely." When the danger passed, the voices of announcers Maria Lluïsa Figa and Francina Boris would say: "Citizens of Girona, the danger has passed."

In the space that the Museum of History of Girona dedicates to recounting the historical trajectory of radio in the city, the first microphone of Radio Girona is on display. From it, the President of the Government of Catalonia, Lluís Companys, and the President of the Spanish Government, Juan Negrín, called for resistance. Daily war communiqués from the Generalitat's Commissariat were also read during the Civil War, along with distress calls and requests for information about missing persons.
